It's our last day in Bangkok. Sarah and Troy have decided to have a lazy one and we check out jim Thompson. It's our first time out without sarah and Troy who have done most of the negotiating and navigating. We grab a tuk tuk and that goes fine, we get it for just 100 baht! He drops us off and I can't see Jim Thompson anywhere. Sam thinks it's one way so we head off in that direction. Within seconds a local asks where we are going. He says that it won't open til 930. He's very friendly and asks where we're from. He tells us that we can go shopping while we wait and that there's a mall nearby. He starts walking the other way, telling us to come. He leads us to another guy and he immediately starts talking to us, asking where we're from and showing us a photo of some NZ coins on his phone, then telling us he has a friend in New Zealand and giving us a business card with a New Zealand address written on the back, then showing us a photo of his New Zealand friend.
I knew it was a scam right from the start. No one has been that friendly on the streets and I knew what time Jim Thompson opened. They were very friendly and convincing it was crazy at the same time.
The guy then told us to come to a shop and starting walking towards a group of guys. We immediately didn't like the look of a group of guys and walked off, they tried to stop us and tell us that we were going the wrong way but we kept walking. We knew Jim Thompson was the other way but didn't want to go past these guys again so we had to cross a congested road and walk on the other side and then back around again. I didn't like the feeling that those guys made me feel and it stayed with me until our tour started.

Jim Thompson was a fantastic house, it was beautiful and grand. It would have been a very nice place to live.
I loved the lounge, where it could totally open up to the outside deck, it would have felt like you were outside. The gardens were beautiful and I loved the wood. Unfortunately we weren't able to take any pictures. They had a mouse house that had heaps of little houses it could run though, it was kind of like their entertainment or their TV back in those days. All of the artwork and sculptures were so cool. At each door you had to step up and back down again because the doors didn't go right down to the ground - this was meant to keep evil spirits out so that they could not walk in.
Afterwards we went out to find some food. We weren't too sure where to get food from but Sam thought we'd go to Chinatown and that we'd find good food there. So we got a tuk tuk to take us there. We immediately knew we were in Chinatown because all of the signs were in Chinese. We walk down the road but can't find any good food to eat. There's literally nothing. So we head back and Sam reckons he can navigate home. On the way we find a dominos and eat there. It's the only food we've found here. We get lost trying to walk home and it's getting closer to 12pm - check out time and we're worried that Sarah and troy will be wondering where we are. We walk around a huge roundabout and go down a road only to realise we're going down the road we just walked up. We're totally confused now, looking at two different maps. We're frustrated and don't know where we're going so we ask a tuk tuk driver. He doesn't seem to know where it is. He takes us anyway, and drops us off. I don't see where we are but sam thinks he sees it so we get off but realise it's not here. After some walking around and stressed out we finally arrive on our street! We rush upstairs and finish packing our stuff. It's about half and hour after we were supposed to check out.

We grab a taxi and it takes about an hour to get to the airport. Sarah stressing out that we're going to be late. We arrive to the airport and both check in. Sarah and Troy go through easy as, there was no line. But our line is long as and takes about half an hour. Sarah and Troy go upstairs and grab something to eat. We finally reach the front, just to be told that our flight is tomorrow! We have to buy another flight, get back in line, wait another half hour to check in. What a hassle!
The drive into Krabi is good. It's so different to Bangkok it's crazy. It looks beautiful, nice homes, proper shops, good roads, not cloggy, and the drive along the river was cool. The outside of the hotel looks so nice but the room is small and the toilet has not ventilation. We drop off our stuff and head out for dinner. We walk up the street and the first restaurant he calls out us, as well as the people eating there. We take a look at the menu, it looks good so we take a seat. A guy is singing and playing some music. It's very good. It has a good vibe. We spend too much and sam has to go back to the hotel to grab some more! On our way home we pass some markets.
When we walk back from the restaurant to our hotel a few of the locals call out while driving by and say hello. It's a nice welcome to Krabi.
